JurnalPost.com Gema Wong Cilik Nusantara (GWCN) has expressed its appreciation for the Constitutional Court's (MK) ruling regarding the petition challenging the candidacy requirements of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
GWCN views the ruling as a part of the legal and constitutional process that must be respected by all parties. According to the organization, differing views or objections within the political process should be resolved through available legal mechanisms rather than prolonging tensions within society.
After the Constitutional Court declared the petition inadmissible, GWCN expressed its hope that all elements of the nation would respect the constitutional process that has taken place and use the ruling as a momentum to end the prolonged polemic.
GWCN emphasized that the law should serve as a space to seek justice and certainty, not as a means to sharpen political disputes.
"The law must be a place to seek justice, not a tool to prolong conflict. Democracy must be a path toward maturity, not a path toward division," stated GWCN.
GWCN also invited all parties to return their focus to various issues deemed more urgent for the public, ranging from improving welfare, job creation, strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), food security, to improving the quality of education.
According to GWCN, advocacy for the common people must remain a priority in the administration of government.
The organization also hopes that President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka can carry out their government mandate optimally. At the same time, the public continues to play an important role in overseeing the government's performance in a critical, polite, and constitutionally compliant manner.
GWCN asserted that differences in political views should not hinder collective efforts in fighting for the interests of the people.
"The common people are not small in the eyes of history. Together with the common people, Indonesia is dignified," concluded GWCN in its statement.
