PPSDM Migas conducts training and certification for PT TPPI Tuban operators to ensure high-quality standards in the oil and gas downstream sector.

CEPU, JurnalPost.com — The enhancement of capacity and standardization of human resources in the downstream oil and gas sector continues to be accelerated to support the national energy downstreaming priority agenda. The Human Resources Development Center for Oil and Gas (PPSDM Migas) held training and certification for non-aviation fuel testing operators for personnel from PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) Tuban from 21 to 23 September 2026 in a hybrid format.

The program, which combines online learning with hands-on laboratory practice, was organized to ensure the reliability and quality of domestic oil, gas, and petrochemical products.

The downstreaming policy for the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sector—as emphasized by Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia—positions the strengthening of the domestic processing industry as a primary pillar of energy sovereignty. Downstreaming aims to ensure that oil and gas derivative products possess high value-added, efficiency, and global competitiveness.

The Coordinator for Human Resources Development at PPSDM Migas, Desy Kurnia Puspaningrum, emphasized that strengthening the capacity of technical laboratory personnel is the primary foundation for safeguarding this strategic government policy.

"The key to the success of downstreaming in the oil and gas sector lies not only in the sophistication of refinery technology but also in the reliability of the human resources operating it. Through this training and certification, PPSDM Migas ensures that operators at TPPI Tuban possess tested and nationally standardized competencies in testing fuel quality," said Desy.

"With accurate and precise testing results, we not only guarantee the quality of the final products reaching the public but also support the Ministry of ESDM's vision in realizing an efficient, competitive, and sustainable oil and gas downstream industry," she added.

This training and competency assessment refer to national standards in the oil and gas laboratory field. The material covered includes knowledge of non-aviation fuel, K3LL applications in the laboratory, non-aviation fuel sampling, laboratory quality systems, physical property testing methods, and chemical property testing methods.

The ongoing synergy between PPSDM Migas and PT TPPI Tuban proves that the acceleration of national downstreaming investment and infrastructure must go hand-in-hand with the improvement of local human resource qualifications to realize Indonesia's energy independence.
