EAST JAKARTA, JurnalPost.com — The humanitarian organization Ukhuwah Al-Fatah Rescue (UAR) continues to enhance the skills and readiness of its personnel in facing various emergency situations. One such effort is their participation in the Indonesia Rescue Summit–Private Sector Resilience Movement (IRS–PSRM) 2026 held at the Cibubur Campground and several supporting locations in Jakarta.
The event, organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK) in collaboration with PT Astra International Tbk., runs from September 15 to October 29, 2026. In total, 119 teams from 29 companies are participating in the IRS–PSRM 2026 across seven emergency competition categories.
During the event, UAR had the opportunity to participate in several challenges that tested technical skills, agility, and personnel readiness in handling emergency conditions.
Some of the categories joined by the UAR team include Logistic Management, Emergency Medical Treatment, Water Rescue, Tent Establishment, and Fitness Drill.
UAR personnel recorded as participating in the series of challenges include Nanang Setiawan, Fatur Rohman, Wali Al Jabar, Alfin, Faris Zaky, Alghi, Prayitno, Nurkholis, Sriyanto, and Huzem.
More Than Just a Competition
General Chairman of UAR, H. Endang Sudrajat, stated that UAR's participation in the event is not solely aimed at competing.
According to him, the IRS 2026 serves as an opportunity for volunteers to gain experience, measure their capabilities, and learn from the various elements involved in disaster management.
“Alhamdulillah, congratulations and success to the UAR team for participating in the challenge. Keep up the spirit, volunteers,” said Endang after the UAR team completed the Logistics Management Challenge on Monday (9/21/2026).
He also encouraged all UAR personnel to continue improving their capacity and competence, not only through competitions but also by increasing disaster literacy, attending seminars, training, simulations, and various activities that provide practical experience.
According to Endang, capacity building is essential because volunteers may face diverse conditions when carrying out humanitarian duties.
Technical skills, physical readiness, logistics management, emergency medical aid, and tent-pitching skills are all interconnected elements in a disaster operation.
Strengthening Business Sector Readiness
The Indonesia Rescue Summit 2026 is also part of an effort to strengthen the business sector's readiness in facing disaster threats.
Kemenko PMK and Astra International are encouraging the improvement of Emergency Response Team (ERT) capabilities so they can work in an integrated manner with the government and volunteer elements during emergencies.
Deputy for Coordination of Disaster Management and Social Conflict at Kemenko PMK, Lilik Kurniawan, emphasized that disaster management cannot rely solely on the government.
“We want to build a paradigm where the private sector is not just an object to be protected when a disaster occurs, but also a subject and a strategic partner in building national resilience,” said Lilik.
According to Kemenko PMK, the business world possesses various resources that can support disaster management, ranging from technology and networks to experts and infrastructure. Integrating these resources with the government's disaster management system is considered vital to strengthening response capacity during emergencies.
Lilik also emphasized the importance of cross-institutional coordination in emergency conditions.
“When an emergency occurs, we must not work in institutional silos. What we need is one system, one coordination, and one goal: to save lives and reduce the impact of disasters,” he said.
Seven Emergency Categories
IRS–PSRM 2026 features seven competition categories, namely Vehicle Accident Rescue (VAR), Logistics Management and Distribution, Emergency Medical Treatment (EMT), Water Rescue, Tent Establishment, Fire Fighting, and Fitness Drill.
The series is designed to test various skills, ranging from victim rescue and medical aid to logistics management and physical endurance.
Kemenko PMK also emphasized that these activities should not stop at the competition level but should serve as a learning space to be applied within each participating organization or institution.
“Do not stop at just winning the competition. The most essential thing is the real capacity improvement when a disaster actually occurs in the field,” said Lilik.
The UAR General Chairman hopes that the experience gained by personnel during the IRS 2026 can be shared with other volunteers and applied in carrying out humanitarian duties in the field.
By continuously improving skills through training, literacy, simulations, and collaboration, UAR strives to maintain volunteer readiness so that every person is capable of carrying out humanitarian tasks with the spirit of Sincere, Thorough, and Quality. [AM]
