PANGKEP, JURNALPOST.COM – PT Semen Tonasa has partnered with Perum BULOG to host an affordable food market in commemoration of the company's 58 anniversary. A total of 580 food packages were made available to the public at accessible prices.

The event, held at the Pangkep City Square in South Sulawesi on Thursday (5/11/2026), serves as a testament to the company's commitment to the community, particularly in helping residents meet their daily food needs.

Through this partnership, Semen Tonasa and BULOG provided essential food packages that residents could purchase for Rp50,000 each. Each package contains 5 kilograms of rice supplied by BULOG and 1 liter of cooking oil.

The total of 580 packages holds symbolic significance, representing the 58 years of Semen Tonasa’s operations and its ongoing contribution to national development.

Affordable Market to Ease Household Expenses

This affordable market program is expected to provide direct benefits to the community surrounding Semen Tonasa's operational areas.

With package prices set lower than standard market rates, the initiative aims to help residents reduce their spending on basic necessities.

Beyond the economic benefits for residents, this collaboration supports efforts to maintain food affordability by leveraging BULOG's supply and distribution network.

General Manager of Communication, Law, and General Affairs at PT Semen Tonasa, Muhammad Mursham, who oversaw the event, stated that the company's anniversary is an opportunity to strengthen ties with the community.

He noted that Semen Tonasa's presence over nearly six decades would not have been possible without the support of the surrounding community.

"Throughout the 58-year journey of PT Semen Tonasa, the support and solidarity of the community have been vital. Therefore, through this 58 anniversary momentum, we want to continue sharing benefits and being closer to the people. We hope this affordable market program helps ease the burden of household expenses, especially in meeting daily food needs," said Mursham.

Semen Tonasa Promotes Inter-SOE Collaboration

Mursham explained that the partnership with Perum BULOG was a key component in organizing the affordable market.

Through this collaboration, Semen Tonasa took the lead in organizing the social program, while BULOG supported the availability of food supplies through its logistics and supply chain network.

He believes that synergy between state-owned enterprises (SOEs) can create opportunities for social initiatives that provide broader benefits.

"We believe that synergy between SOEs is a powerful force for delivering greater contributions to society. With the support of Perum BULOG, we hope this program not only provides direct benefits but also serves as a tangible example of collaboration in supporting food security and maintaining the purchasing power of the community," he added.

The partnership also demonstrates how the resources and capacity of individual SOEs can be utilized to address community needs.

For Semen Tonasa, the affordable market is part of its corporate social responsibility, aimed at delivering real benefits to the surrounding environment.

The 58 Anniversary Momentum to Strengthen Social Care

The 58 anniversary of Semen Tonasa is not just a time to reflect on the company's history in the national cement industry, but also an opportunity to reinforce its social contributions.

By providing affordable food, the company strives to host activities that directly benefit residents, particularly in meeting household food requirements.

The execution of the affordable market with BULOG also shows that social responsibility initiatives can be effectively carried out through cross-company cooperation by leveraging available skills and resources.

Semen Tonasa hopes that its collaboration with Perum BULOG will not end with this event but will continue to evolve through other programs relevant to community needs.

Moving forward, the company is committed to continuing social activities that support the welfare of the community around its operational areas.

Through the momentum of its 58 anniversary, Semen Tonasa reaffirms that the company's growth must go hand-in-hand with care for the community and the surrounding environment.
