CILACAP, JurnalPost.com - The Banyumas Raya Active Writers Association (IPAB) collaborated with the Cilacap Regency Library and Archives Agency and SIP Publishing to host a book launch and sharing session titled “Literacy in the Creative Industry,” featuring capital city film producer and filmmaker Camex Wangon. The event, held at the Sumekar Building in Cilacap on Saturday (17/10/2026), was part of the Cilacap Literacy Festival 2026.
This event served as a meeting point for writers, literacy community activists, creative industry players, and the general public to broaden their perspectives on developing literary works and exploring opportunities within the creative industry, particularly in filmmaking.
During the event, two books published by SIP Publishing were officially launched. The first is a film script anthology titled *Sebelum Kamera Menyala* (Before the Camera Rolls), which features works by IPAB members and selected contributors.
The anthology represents an effort to bridge the world of writing with the creative industry, specifically film. Through screenwriting, the ideas and stories crafted by authors have the potential to be developed into audiovisual works.
The second book launched was a bilingual fable titled *Semut Merah dan Selimut Timi* (The Red Ant and Timi’s Blanket) by Resti Dwi Mulyani, an IPAB member and part of the Cilacap Literacy Forum. The book was published in three bilingual editions: Indonesian–Arabic, Indonesian–English, and Indonesian–French.
The launch of these two books demonstrates that literacy activities can evolve into various forms and maintain strong ties to the creative industry. Written works do not merely end as reading products but can serve as the foundation for other creative works with educational, artistic, and economic value.
In addition to the book launch, the event featured Camex Wangon, a film producer and filmmaker active in the capital, who led a sharing session on “Literacy in the Creative Industry.”
Camex provided insights into the script development process and how it can be adapted into various audiovisual formats, ranging from films and television movies (FTVs) to soap operas. Participants were encouraged to see that the ability to write and produce stories is a vital asset for entering the creative industry.
The sharing session was highly interactive. The participants' enthusiasm was evident in the numerous questions raised during the discussion. The Q&A session was quite dense, covering various topics related to the creative process, script development, and opportunities for bringing written works into the film industry.
Collaboration to Strengthen the Literacy Ecosystem
IPAB Chairman Septiono Bangun Sugiharto expressed his gratitude in his opening remarks for the successful event, which was made possible through the collaboration between IPAB, the Cilacap Regency Library and Archives Agency, and SIP Publishing.
He appreciated the support and synergy that allowed the book launch and sharing session to be held as part of the Cilacap Literacy Festival 2026.
According to him, this collaboration is a positive step in bringing together writers' communities, local government, publishers, and creative industry players in a single space to foster the development of literacy and writing.
The Secretary of the Cilacap Regency Library and Archives Agency, Kastam, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.M., expressed his appreciation and support for the community's active role in developing a culture of literacy in the region, particularly in Cilacap Regency.

Literacy communities are considered to play a crucial role in enlivening the culture of reading and writing within society. Synergy between the local government and these communities is essential for the literacy movement to continue growing sustainably.
Meanwhile, Narti, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the Elementary School Section at the Cilacap Regency Education and Culture Agency, emphasized the importance of consistent writing activities.
She noted that a writing culture must be continuously nurtured as it provides positive impacts for future generations. Writing also serves as a way to build a habit of creating while documenting ideas and knowledge.
The event, attended by various literacy activist communities in Cilacap Regency and the general public, is expected to broaden perspectives on literacy. Literacy is not only defined as the ability to read and write but can also serve as a gateway to developing creative works and industries.
Through the collaboration of IPAB, the Cilacap Regency Library and Archives Agency, and SIP Publishing, this event is intended to be part of an effort to strengthen the local literacy and writing ecosystem. The presence of creative industry players also opens doors for writers to explore new possibilities in developing their work, transforming written ideas into broader, impactful creative products for society.
