ABSTRACT
The development of digital technology has changed many aspects of life, especially the field of education. English language teaching, in particular, has undergone a significant transformation with the advent of digital media. This article discusses the impact and benefits of teaching English in the digital era, as well as the challenges faced. This research uses document research methods to collect data from various sources. The research results show that digital media can increase the effectiveness of English language learning, although it also raises challenges such as gaps in access to technology..

ABSTRAK
Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mengubah banyak aspek kehidupan, khususnya bidang pendidikan. Pengajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya, telah mengalami transformasi signifikan dengan hadirnya media digital. Artikel ini membahas dampak dan manfaat pengajaran bahasa Inggris di era digital, serta tantangan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dokumen untuk mengumpulkan data dari berbagai sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media digital dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, meskipun juga menimbulkan tantangan seperti kesenjangan akses terhadap teknologi.

INTRODUCTION
Digital technology has been one of the main drivers of change in various sectors, including education. In the digital era, the use of technological devices and platforms has not only made information more accessible, but has also revolutionized the way we learn and teach. In the context of English language teaching, digital technology offers a variety of innovative tools and methods that can improve the learning process in terms of both quality and efficiency. Digital technology allows students to access educational resources anytime and anywhere, providing flexibility that was not possible before. With the help of language learning apps, e-learning platforms and a wide range of online resources, students can use their time more effectively in learning English. In addition, the technology also offers a range of interactive tools that can increase student engagement and motivation: for example, learning videos, learning games, online discussion forums. Although digital technologies have many advantages, their implementation in English language teaching also presents some challenges Differential access to technology and inequality in digital skills between students and teachers are the main barriers. In addition, digital technologies can cause distractions and affect concentration during the learning process. The aim of this article is to explore the impacts and benefits of using digital technologies in English language teaching, as well as the challenges in their implementation. Understanding these aspects is expected to help optimize the use of digital technologies in English language learning and find solutions to overcome existing barriers.
RESEARCH METHODS
This research uses a document research method, where data is collected from various scientific journals, books and articles related to the topic of teaching English in the digital era. These sources were analyzed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of digital technology on English language learning.
RESULTS
Research shows that the use of digital technology in English language learning has several important benefits;
1. Accessibility: Digital technology provides flexibility for students by allowing them to access learning materials anytime and anywhere.
2. Interactivity: Digital platforms offer a variety of interactive features that can increase student engagement and motivation.
3. Customization: learning materials can be tailored to individual learner needs, allowing for a more personalized approach.
4. Collaboration: Digital technology supports collaboration between students and teachers, both locally and globally.
However, the study also identified a number of challenges such as:
1. Access disparities: Not all students have equal opportunities to access digital technology, which creates gap in learning.
2. Digital skills: Sufficient digital skills are needed to use technology in learning, for both teachers and students.
3. Distraction: Digital technology can also cause distraction, reducing learning effectiveness.

Teaching English in the digital age offers various opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the learning process. With easier access to learning resources, students can learn at their own pace and according to their own learning style. Digital platforms such as language learning apps, learning videos, and online discussion forums offer a more dynamic and interactive learning experience. However, it is important to remember that the successful implementation of digital technology in education depends greatly on adequate infrastructure and the willingness of teachers and students to use this technology. Therefore, efforts are needed to close the technology access gap and improve the digital literacy of students and teachers.

By closing the technology access gap and improving digital literacy, English learning in the digital age can be more effective, responsive to students’ needs and interests, and remains relevant in an ever-changing world.
CONCLUSION
The digital age has brought many benefits to English language education, especially in terms of accessibility, interactivity, and personalized learning opportunities. Thanks to advances in technology, English language teaching resources are now available to a wider audience. Learning materials such as e-books, videos, and language learning apps are available online, so you can study anytime, anywhere. This is especially beneficial for those who live in remote areas or have busy schedules. Moreover, digital technology makes English language learning more interactive. Through e-learning platforms and applications, students can take part in interactive exercises, quizzes and educational games that make the learning process more fun and effective. Technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) can also be used to create immersive learning environments that help students better understand and retain the material. The ability to personalize learning is another benefit of the digital age. Technology can be used to tailor learning to students’ individual needs and capabilities. Adaptive learning platforms can analyze student performance and adapt course material and the pace of instruction to meet their needs..This ensures that each student has the most effective learning experience. However, despite the many benefits that the digital age brings, there are some challenges that must be overcome. one of them is unequal access to technology: not all students have the same access to digital devices and the internet. This can lead to differences in the quality of education that students from different economic backgrounds receive. To overcome this, governments and the private sector need to work together to provide wider access to technology and the internet, especially in underserved areas. Furthermore, the use of technology in education also requires appropriate digital skills for students and teachers. Many teachers may not be familiar with the latest technology and will need additional training to use it effectively. Students must also be taught basic digital skills to be proficient with digital learning tools. Investing in digital education and training is critical to ensure optimal use of technology in the learning process. Building an inclusive and effective learning environment in the digital age urgently requires collaboration among various stakeholders including governments, educational institutions and society. Governments can play a role in formulating policies and funding technology infrastructure and training. Educational institutions can integrate technology into the curriculum and provide technical support to teachers and students. The community, including parents and non-governmental organizations, can play a role in supporting digital education efforts through various programs and activities. Overall, the digital age offers great opportunities to improve English education, but concerted efforts are also needed to address existing challenges. When all stakeholders work well together, they can feel the benefits of digital technology equally, helping to create a better, more inclusive education system.
