Students and health workers facilitate a community health screening event.

PEKALONGAN, JurnalPost.com – Efforts to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining health continue through various healthcare service initiatives. Two students from Universitas Pekalongan, Thifla Emila Khusna and Atut Indah Chosyiyah, participated in a Free Health Screening (CKG) program organized in collaboration with the Karanganyar Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java.

The involvement of these two students serves as a form of support for public health services, particularly in encouraging residents to be more proactive about their health through regular check-ups.

The CKG program provides the community with the opportunity to identify health conditions early through screening services provided by healthcare professionals. This activity also serves as an educational tool to help the public understand the importance of recognizing disease risk factors before more serious symptoms arise.

During the implementation, Thifla and Atut worked alongside the health center staff to support the smooth operation of the service and provide health education to the community.

Promoting Public Awareness of Early Detection

Regular health screenings play a vital role in disease prevention. Through these screenings, the public can gain an initial overview of their health status and determine whether further examination or treatment is necessary.

The CKG program is also expected to shift the habits of some community members who only seek medical attention when they are already experiencing health complaints.

With free screening services available, the public has the opportunity to better understand their physical condition and consult directly with healthcare workers regarding necessary steps to take.

In addition to screenings, education regarding the adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors is a crucial part of increasing public awareness.

Maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, paying attention to environmental cleanliness, and following the advice of healthcare workers are simple steps that can be applied in daily life.

The results of the health screenings can also serve as a basis for residents to receive guidance on appropriate follow-up actions based on their individual conditions.

Students Gain Experience in Public Health Services

For Thifla Emila Khusna and Atut Indah Chosyiyah, participating in the CKG program was not only an opportunity to assist the community but also provided valuable hands-on learning experience in the field.

Through interactions with health center staff and residents, the students gained an understanding of how public health services are implemented, including the importance of effective communication and a friendly approach toward service recipients.

This experience also provided insight into the importance of collaboration between healthcare workers, students, and the community in supporting the success of a health program.

The presence of students is expected to make a positive contribution, particularly in assisting with the smooth running of activities and supporting the delivery of health information in a way that is easily understood by residents.

On the other hand, this activity served as an opportunity for students to develop social awareness and understand various community needs firsthand.

Strengthening Collaboration for a Healthier Community

The collaboration between the Karanganyar Community Health Center and Universitas Pekalongan students is expected to benefit the community, particularly in broadening understanding of the importance of promotive and preventive efforts in the health sector.

The Free Health Screening program is not just about providing examination services; it is also part of an effort to build habits among the public to pay more attention to their own health and that of their families.

The participation of students in community service activities also demonstrates that the university environment can contribute to supporting health programs through direct involvement in the field.

Through this activity, Thifla and Atut hope their presence helps increase public knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of routine health screenings.

Both also hope that similar activities can continue to be carried out so that the community can more easily access screening services while receiving beneficial health information.

With the support of various parties, efforts toward disease prevention and increased health awareness in the Karanganyar Community Health Center's working area are expected to be sustainable.

This activity also serves as a valuable experience for students in developing concern for the community and understanding the importance of collaboration in creating a healthier environment.
