Building Indonesia
The visual campaign for 'Building Indonesia,' initiated by Emergent to encourage Indonesian business owners and founders to build AI-based solutions, with a total prize pool of IDR 800 million for 100 selected entries.

JurnalPost.com – Emergent, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered application development platform, has launched a program titled “Building Indonesia” to encourage small business owners and founders in Indonesia to create digital solutions tailored to their specific business needs.

Launched in conjunction with Indonesia's Independence Day, the nationwide program offers a total prize pool of IDR 800 million for the 100 best entries.

Through this program, Emergent aims to provide a space for business owners to not only utilize technology but also build applications or software that can solve real-world operational challenges.

Participants' entries will be evaluated based on several criteria, including creativity, utility, and potential business impact.

Encouraging Business Owners to Build Their Own Software

Historically, developing custom software for a business has been synonymous with the need for developers, technical teams, significant budgets, and complex development processes.

This reality has led many business owners, particularly those in the small business sector, to rely on off-the-shelf applications, even when the features offered do not perfectly align with their requirements.

Through “Building Indonesia,” Emergent seeks to shift this paradigm.

The platform allows users to describe the application they wish to create using everyday language. AI technology then helps translate those requirements into a functional application.

With this approach, business owners without a background in programming or software development have the opportunity to create their own digital solutions.

“On this Independence Day, we want to make the process of ‘building’ more accessible to founders and business owners across Indonesia, so that their ideas can be realized even without technical expertise,” said the Co-founder & CEO of Emergent.

According to the CEO, various products built on the platform typically originate from simple needs and real problems encountered within a business.

“Every business successfully built on our platform always starts the same way: an idea and a real problem described in words, then transformed into a truly usable product,” they added.

From Users to Technology Builders

The presence of this program also reflects a shift in how business owners leverage technology.

As the demand for operational efficiency and flexibility grows, more business owners are attempting to move away from manual processes and the use of multiple, non-integrated applications.

Alternatively, companies can build software specifically designed based on their own workflows and business characteristics.

Emergent views this trend as an opportunity to encourage more Indonesian entrepreneurs to become builders, rather than just technology users.

By having the ability to build their own applications, business owners are expected to develop a variety of solutions, such as customer management systems, transaction recording, operational dashboards, inventory management, and internal applications to support company activities.

Participants in “Building Indonesia” can use Emergent to describe the solutions they wish to develop in their own language. These ideas can then be translated into applications without requiring users to understand traditional software development methods.

Ultimately, Emergent hopes the program will expand access to technology development among business owners.

Through “Building Indonesia,” the company wants to encourage business owners not to wait for software solutions to become available on the market or to be built by third parties, but to start creating tools that truly fit their business needs.

How to Join the ‘Building Indonesia’ Competition

To participate in the competition, participants can follow these steps:
