SUKABUMI, JurnalPost.com — Community-based disaster response (SIBAT) volunteers from seven villages in Sukabumi Regency have tested WargaSiaga.com, an artificial intelligence-powered platform for learning disaster preparedness. The trial was part of the SIBAT RCC-2 Resilience Camp held at Puncak Peuyeum, Ciengang Village, Gegerbitung District, from November 4–5, 2026.

Field Director of the Saka Warga Indonesia Foundation, Alfan Kasdar, stated that the platform was developed to enable villagers to study disaster preparedness independently. According to him, education and simulation activities in villages have traditionally required external instructors or facilitators.

“What if simulation and disaster knowledge could be accessed directly 24 hours a day through our platform, WargaSiaga.com?” said Alfan.

Alfan hopes that volunteers and residents will use WargaSiaga to identify threats in their environment, understand risks, and learn initial steps for responding to emergencies. The trial during the camp provided volunteers with the opportunity to test the platform firsthand and observe how digital materials can support learning at the village level.

The camp participants came from the villages of Ciengang, Sukamaju, Cimerang, Citamiang, Tegallega, Margaluyu, and Bojongtugu. Before engaging in field simulations, they received training on Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) disaster command post management, first aid, rural digital literacy, and citizen journalism.

During the simulation, volunteers practiced delegating tasks, coordinating, and evacuating victims using stretchers. The citizen journalism session covered methods for managing and disseminating disaster information to the public.

Over two days, participants learned about the role of volunteers from the risk reduction stage to emergency response. Following the camp, WargaSiaga is expected to help them review preparedness materials and share them with residents in their respective villages.
