Jakarta, JurnalPost.com – OIC Youth Indonesia calls on all Muslim youth to make the holy month of Ramadan a moment of reflection and concrete action in supporting the Palestinian cause. This statement aligns with the initiative of Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anis Matta, who has emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a month of solidarity for Palestine, as well as the firm stance of Indonesia’s Foreign Minister, Sugiono, who recently voiced strong support for Palestine during the High-Level Segment of the UN Human Rights Council in Switzerland on February 24, 2025.
As a youth organization that serves as an umbrella for Islamic youth organizations in Indonesia, OIC Youth Indonesia plays a role as civil society and the implementer of the Model OIC program. This initiative is part of the 14-Joint Youth Action Plan, which was adopted in the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers 2016 and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers 2016. With this role, OIC Youth Indonesia remains committed to advocating for humanitarian and global justice issues, particularly in the Muslim world, including the struggle of the Palestinian people.
This sacred month of Ramadan serves as an opportunity for all Muslims to strengthen unity, deepen empathy, and take concrete steps in defending the rights of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
OIC Youth Indonesia fully supports the initiative of Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Anis Matta, who has declared Ramadan as a month of solidarity for Palestine. This solidarity is not just about prayers but also about taking real action to raise global awareness, support Palestine’s independence struggle, and mobilize humanitarian aid for Palestinians who continue to face injustice and suffering.
Furthermore, OIC Youth Indonesia also extends its full support to Foreign Minister Sugiono, who has firmly voiced support for Palestine during the High-Level Segment of the UN Human Rights Council in Switzerland last week. In this international forum, Minister Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to advocating for peace and fighting for Palestinian independence through a two-state solution.
The Palestinian issue remains a central concern in the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, where Indonesia, as a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has actively pushed for resolutions highlighting the human rights of the Palestinian people and the urgent need for international protection.
Ramadan as a Transformative Journey for Youth President of OIC Youth Indonesia, Astrid Nadya Rizqita, urges Muslim youth to make Ramadan a transformative journey of reflection. She emphasizes the importance of returning to the Qur’an as a guide for life and drawing wisdom from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). More than that, she underscores that Ramadan is the perfect time for Muslims to unite and increase their awareness of the Palestinian cause.
"I urge every young Muslim to make this Ramadan a transformative journey of self-reflection. Let us immerse ourselves in the Qur’an, the guidance revealed in this blessed month, and strive to make each day better than the last. At the same time, let us amplify our voices and actions in solidarity with Palestine and the wider Muslim world, demonstrating the true spirit of unity and compassion that defines our faith. May this Ramadan inspire us to be the leaders our Ummah needs." – Astrid Nadya Rizqita

The Secretary-General of OIC Youth Indonesia, Adlan Almilzan Athori, encourages the younger generation to increase the quality of worship during Ramadan and strengthen their connection with Allah. He stresses that Ramadan is a time to enhance piety (taqwa), not just to endure hunger and thirst.
"Marhaban ya Ramadan! It’s time to upgrade our faith, increase our acts of worship, and get closer to Allah. Don’t just stay up late for no reason—stay up for tahajjud too! Wishing everyone a blessed and meaningful fasting month." – Adlan Almilzan Athori
The Treasurer of OIC Youth Indonesia, Nabila Rahmadita Azra, also highlights the importance of Ramadan as a moment for spiritual growth and self-reflection.
"Ramadan Kareem! The month of mercy has arrived. Let us use this time to strengthen our piety and reflect on becoming the best version of ourselves as Khalifah (stewards of the earth). May Allah grant us and our families strength through our fasting. Wishing a blessed Ramadan to all Muslims around the world." – Nabila Rehmadita Azra
Commitment to Palestinian Solidarity As part of its commitment to Palestinian solidarity, OIC Youth Indonesia will continue to play an active role in various initiatives supporting Palestinian rights. This includes:
1. Global awareness campaigns on the current situation in Palestine through various platforms. 2. Youth diplomatic advocacy to strengthen Palestine’s position in international forums. 3. Collaboration with Islamic and humanitarian organizations to mobilize real action for Palestine.
This Ramadan is a time for all Muslims to strengthen unity, deepen empathy, and take concrete steps in defending the rights of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
