BOJONEGORO, JurnalPost.com — Stationery stores in rural areas are no longer just places to buy books, pencils, and various school supplies. As agency-based financial services continue to grow, a number of shops have begun offering banking transaction facilities to meet the needs of the surrounding community.

One such method is through the BRILink Agent service, which allows the public to perform various transactions, ranging from money transfers and mobile credit purchases to routine bill payments, without having to visit a bank branch.

In Bojonegoro Regency, the presence of these services has become an alternative for rural residents who need access to financial transactions closer to their homes.

For residents, this convenience is significant, especially when they need to pay electricity bills, water bills, or other expenses during their daily activities. They can utilize the available transaction services while simultaneously purchasing school supplies or office needs.

Stationery Stores Provide Additional Services for Residents

Zia, a stationery store owner and BRILink Agent in Bojonegoro, stated that financial transaction services are an additional facility that customers can utilize.

According to her, the community's needs are not limited to purchasing goods. Various payment transactions are also part of daily activities that require access to practical services.

"Bill payment services through BRILink Agents can cover a number of needs, such as electricity payments, water bills, and certain installments, depending on the features available. Residents can also perform money transfers and other transactions based on the services provided by each individual agent," said Zia.

With these services in place, the community has an alternative to complete several errands in a single visit.

Residents who initially come to buy notebooks, pens, or school supplies can also inquire about the bill payment services available at the store.

However, not all BRILink Agents provide the same types of transactions. The availability of services depends on the facilities, features, and payment partnerships applicable to each agent.

Therefore, customers are advised to verify the types of transactions available before attempting to make a payment.

Additional Opportunities for Small Businesses in Villages

For stationery store owners, introducing BRILink Agent services also opens up opportunities to grow their business.

While store revenue previously came primarily from the sale of school and office supplies, the presence of financial transaction services can serve as an additional source of income, subject to applicable regulations.

This business model allows store owners to reach a more diverse range of customer needs without having to abandon their primary business activities.

Furthermore, the presence of an agent in residential neighborhoods can assist residents who live quite far from bank branches or other payment facilities.

However, providing financial transaction services also requires precision. Agents must ensure customer data, destination numbers, payment amounts, and transaction statuses are accurate to avoid errors.

The Importance of Ensuring Transaction Security

Zia reminds customers that they need to pay attention to every piece of payment information before a transaction is finalized.

This includes checking the bill amount, the customer number or destination account, and any applicable administrative fees.

"For customers, the transaction receipt is an important document that should be kept after a payment is successfully made. Residents should also verify the bill amount and administrative fees before completing the transaction," she added.

Payment receipts can be used as documentation if a customer requires transaction confirmation or encounters issues after the payment has been made.

Customers should also ensure that the transaction is declared successful before leaving the agent's location.

BRILink Agents Expand Access to Financial Services

BRILink is an agency service from PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk that allows the public to access a number of banking services through agents partnering with BRI.

The presence of these agents serves as an alternative to expand the reach of financial services, including in rural areas.

Various types of businesses can serve as BRILink service locations as long as they meet the applicable requirements and terms. Not only grocery stores, but stationery shops can also leverage this opportunity to provide additional services to the community.

The presence of BRILink Agents in stationery stores demonstrates that small businesses in villages have the opportunity to grow by adapting their services to customer needs.

For the people of Bojonegoro, the presence of payment facilities in the neighborhood can help save time and travel for certain transactions.

Meanwhile, for store owners, these additional services represent an opportunity to strengthen their business while increasing the value the store provides to local residents.

Thus, stationery stores no longer function solely as places to buy educational supplies, but can also become accessible points for financial transactions for rural communities.
