Cepu, JurnalPost.com — The drought affecting several regions in Blora Regency, Central Java, has begun to impact the community's access to clean water. Residents in areas around Cepu are struggling to secure daily water supplies due to reduced availability during the 2026 dry season.
In response to this situation, the Human Resources Development Center for Oil and Gas (PPSDM Migas) has distributed clean water aid to affected communities in four areas surrounding Cepu.
The aid was distributed in stages to Mernung Village, Tambakromo Urban Village, Karangboyo Urban Village, and Nglandeyan Village. These areas were targeted because residents have faced limited access to clean water throughout the dry season.
Prolonged drought conditions have caused several local water sources to shrink or dry up entirely. Consequently, residents must seek alternative water supplies to meet household needs, ranging from cooking to sanitation.
Clean Water Aid Distributed via Tanker Trucks
The aid was delivered using a fleet of tanker trucks to transport clean water directly to residential areas.
The arrival of the PPSDM Migas tanker trucks was welcomed by residents who have experienced water shortages over the past few weeks.
The distributed water was immediately utilized by residents to help meet their daily needs.
PPSDM Migas Technical Facilities Coordinator, Yoeswono, stated that the distribution of aid is a form of the institution's commitment to the community surrounding its operational areas.
"PPSDM Migas is always committed to showing care for the community through various concrete actions, one of which is this sustainable clean water distribution," said Yoeswono as he dispatched the water tanker fleet.
According to him, the aid is a response to the difficulties residents face in obtaining clean water due to the prolonged dry season.
The phased distribution is expected to help residents meet urgent needs, particularly in locations experiencing severe water source limitations.
Residents Face Limited Water Supplies
The availability of clean water becomes a critical issue for the community when the dry season persists for an extended period.
The depletion of water sources can affect various household activities, especially cooking, maintaining environmental cleanliness, and meeting basic sanitation needs.
In several areas around Cepu, these conditions have necessitated the supply of water from sources outside those typically used by the community.
Tanker truck deliveries serve as a short-term measure to alleviate the hardships faced by residents.
However, clean water distribution does not fully resolve the drought issue. Long-term water needs still require proper management of water sources and preparedness for the dry season.
Yoeswono hopes that the aid provided by PPSDM Migas will assist residents in carrying out their daily activities amidst the limited water supply.
"Our hope is that this clean water aid can slightly alleviate the burden on the community in meeting their basic needs due to this prolonged dry season," said Yoeswono.
Clean Water Distribution Expected to Continue Based on Need
This aid distribution activity is part of the social response of PPSDM Migas to the conditions of the community around Cepu.
As an institution engaged in human resource competency development for the oil and gas sector, PPSDM Migas also carries out community outreach activities, including addressing environmental issues.
The distribution of clean water to these four areas is expected to help reduce the burden on residents until their usual water sources are replenished.
Amidst uncertain drought conditions, the sustainability of water supply remains a critical need, especially for families dependent on local water sources.
Addressing drought also requires coordination between various parties to ensure that aid reaches the communities most in need.
Through this clean water distribution, PPSDM Migas strives to help the residents of Mernung Village, Tambakromo Urban Village, Karangboyo Urban Village, and Nglandeyan Village cope with water shortages for their daily needs.
