JurnalPost.com – The relocation of the National Capital is carried out as an effort to realise an advanced Indonesia in 2024, the relocation of the National Capital focuses on economic transformation but issues related to culture need to be studied thoroughly and structured, especially regarding the preservation of local culture as an effort to strengthen diversity. There are 22 community members of the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago in the Archipelago Capital, the indigenous people in Mentawir Village consist of the majority of Paser and Bugis tribes, besides in Loa Janan Sub-district there is the Putak Traditional Hamlet which is a cultural and natural tourism hamlet. The Nusantara Capital is a form of national identity that reflects diversity.
The relocation of the national capital is not just about moving government buildings, but also includes office holders where each staff of state institutions has its own culture. Massive migration which means the entry of new cultures into the land of East Kalimantan is a challenge in itself, the land of East Kalimantan is not an area without culture therefore local culture should not be eroded by the arrival of new cultures. The government must ensure that the local culture of East Kalimantan will remain alive even though new cultures will come, the migrants must respect every element of the local culture. The limitation of customary territories in the Archipelago’s capital city and the establishment of a Kalimantan local culture centre can be done as an effort to preserve local culture.

The ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity of East Kalimantan is a valuable asset in the face of multiculturalism that will occur. This cultural diversity can also be a carrying capacity for the development of superior tourism in East Kalimantan, of course this requires the provision of facilities in the form of hotels and public transport that meet the standards. This flagship tourism development can have a positive impact on the tourism economy of the local community of East Kalimantan. Quoted from the statement of the Deputy Chairperson of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) of Kutai Kartanegara Regency stated that improving the quality of the tourism sector can be seen through the existing availability and demand, this is due to the relationship in terms of fulfilment.
