JurnalPost.com – Najah Jama Hassan, a student from the Faculty of Medicine at Hasanuddin University, carried out an individual KKN program entitled “Health Check for Adults and Children in Bonto Bunga Village.” The activity was held in Bonto Bunga Village, Moncongloe District, Maros Regency. The program was conducted in two different sessions.
The first session took place on July 26, 2025, and focused on adults, where Najah performed blood pressure and blood sugar examinations to detect early signs of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. During this activity, educational leaflets were also distributed to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and the importance of regular health monitoring. From the examination results, it was found that about 90% of adults showed signs of hypertension or high blood sugar levels, while the remaining 10% were within normal limits.
The second session was conducted on August 5, 2025, focusing on children’s nutritional status. The activity involved weighing and measuring the height of children to evaluate their growth based on national nutritional standards. The results revealed that 1% of children were below normal weight, and most children were within a healthy range. Parents were also provided with counseling about the importance of balanced nutrition in supporting children’s growth and development.
This program aims to increase public awareness about the importance of early
detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and to ensure that children receive proper nutrition. It is hoped that similar health programs will continue in the future through collaboration between students, local health officers, and community members.
